British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
The BACP is the main organisation in the UK representing both counselling and psychotherapy. I am a member, and am also accredited by the BACP,
which means that I have been through a process of submitting evidence
about training, experience and competence. I am also on the United
Kingdom Register of Counsellors, which is linked to the BACP.
The BACP assists anyone who wants to know more about therapy,
or who has any queries at all, including complaints against their
members. They publish several journals, fact-sheets which you can
buy, and have copies of their publication ‘Ethical Framework
for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy’, which
